Once a baby is conceived in the womb, the baby is immediately accepted and recognized as member of the family.  Do the mother and father wait until the child is two or five years  before they decide to call the child their own? On the contrary, the father and mother  and in fact all family members do not wait for the baby to be born for the baby to be called "son" or "daughter" -  rightful heirs to what the family has to offer. The family does not wait for the baby to be older before it recognizes the child as belonging to the family. Baptism bestows the same acknowledgement to anyone being baptized - in baptism we immediately become and belong to God's family. God awaits each one who would like to be his child with joy through baptism. Life continues to be sometimes challenging even for the baptized, but through baptism we can call on God as "Father," "Abba" and with it all the resources we will need to be saved and reunited with Him in eternity.  At the start of the year, a most wonderful gift to your family is for all who are not baptized to come together and ask for baptism.
